white-hats.co.uk was set up in May 2002 as a user-group by First Base Technologies with the intention of providing a new way of exchanging information and learning about threats as they emerge.

The group provides a vendor-neutral knowledge base for over 250 (as at May 2009) IT security professionals via quarterly meetings, workshops and an on-line discussion group.

All prospective members undergo a full vetting process, and are expected to sign a non-disclosure agreement, prior to being admitted for membership. This allows open discussion of key issues in a confidential environment.

Membership is open to IT and security professionals from UK business and government.
